When you think of Palm oil, does it excite you? It doesn’t excite me either.
So when I was invited for a bloggers food hunt by the MPOC (Malaysian Palm Oil Council) my curiosity got the best of me. I didn’t know what to expect but I am now extremely glad I attended this event.
Hats off to the people from MPOC, they did an excellent job in explaining the benefits of Palm Oil to us.
Did you know that Palm Oil happens to be more beneficial than Olive Oil?
Yes, it is. They explained the benefits to us in such innovative and fun ways, I’m sure I’ll never forget it.
All of you who had no idea that Palm Oil is a healthy alternative, read this:
– It is completely free of Cholestrol
– It is rich in anti-oxidants and helps with detox
– It is easily digested and is a great source of energy
– It is an excellent source of pro-Vitamin A carotenoids
– It promotes absorption of Vitamins like A, K and E.
– It’s used in the preparations of ice cream, creamer, margerine, ghee etc.
Isn’t this so cool?
What’s cooler is the way we were taught. The entire thing happened like a treasure hunt across 5 different restaurants, starting and ending with Mainland China.
The first clue was Oh! Calcutta where we had a blind tasting food session in which we had to guess the ingredients of the dish by just tasting it.
Next stop was Hoppipola where there was a super exciting salad making competition.
Then we had to rush to Empire and eat a sweet pan (oh so yummy)
The last but one was Rushh Gastropub where we had to answer a quiz about Palm trees and Palm Oil.
Later, we went back to Mainland China, where the winners were announced (our group didn’t win! Sob sob!) and we took loads of pictures with some fun props.
The first thing I did after saying goodbye to all these lovely people was buying some Palm Oil for myself. My mom is now convinced about it too!
I would like to give a shoutout to Priyanka and Bhavana from MPOC. We not only learnt a great deal from the both of them but we had an amazing time too!
What did I take back home from this event?
Important information, lovely memories, a wonderful goodie bag and a bottle of Palm Oil!
